Are the World's Most Perfectly Cut Diamonds

The Hearts On Fire superlative round brilliant releases more light and as the stone moves it sparkles to a greater degree as the light reflects from the back of the cut gem and bursts out with a starburst of brilliance.

Hearts On Fire's jewellery designers can then create settings to allow this scintillation to be appreciated, in settings which are crafted from Platinum or Gold in a designs that are a joy to wear and own.

These items of jewellery are carefully chosen as tokens that in themselves say how cherished are the emotions between two people.

Both giver and wearer appreciate that there are very few gems that can be cut perfectly, but that these have been recognised by the sorters of the original crystals as being free from structural complications.

That skilled craftsmen and women have then perfectly aligned each cut so as to form the precise proportions and angles which allow the diamonds physical characteristics to total refelect within itself the light that enters.

The cutters carefully examine the diamond regularly throughout the different stages of ccutting to see that the facets are perfectly alighned to give symetry and harmony, that allows the light itself to dance its way through the diamond, and then vibrate with joy as it is once again released.

Finally each of the very few cutters that are skilled enough to be responsible for birth of a diamond that will pass the Hearts On Fire stringent tests must examine the polish of the gem - at one hundred times magnification - to see that the surface of every facet is perfect.

The Diamond Crystals have now become Gems and the examination process beings. Some stones are selected to be serialised. This is the laser inscription of the Hearts On Fire Logo onto the gemstones fine edge, together with its unique identity number.

That now unique stone is then submitted to the American Gem Society [AGS] to be assessed. Firstly on the cut. Only cut diamonds that are graded exceptional on polish, proportions and symetry can recieve the 0 grade for each feature and only 000 graded gems can be considered as being Hearts On Fire. This must be an awfully boring part of the examination for all the diamonds produced by Heartys On Fire will pass this test whether they are serialsied or not. Then the other characteristics are examined, carat weight - how much does the gem weight after the cutting art. Well that may be as little as 44% of the original peeble that was found. Finally the examination of colour within the confines of the scale of D to J, exceptional white + to slightly tinted white, and of clarity, which is a measure of the number and position of natural birthmarks within the gems body, ranging from Flawless to slight imperfection 2 takes place. These three C's carat Colour and Clarity determine the price for each size of perfectly cut stone.

Having left the AGS, the gems rejoin the others to pass the ultimate test - are the gems good enough not just to be AGS 000, but do they pass the test to be called Hearts On Fire.

Please note that not every diamond is serialised and certificated by AGS, however every Hearts On Fire would pass if examined, for they all have to pass the more stringent Hearts On Fire test, that is applied first at the cutting workshop and again the Boston headquaters.

Stones below 0.235 carats are not normally serialised, and stones that are serialsied up to 0.49ct now carry a Hearts On Fire summary.

At Thomas's we choose to select some Diamonds of up to 0.60ct that have passed Hearts on Fire but are un-serialised to save the testing fee. These may be set in Hearts On Fire Jewellery, or in Jewellery we have had created.
